Melorio and Construction Learning World (CLW) are delighted to announce the acquisition of HB Group Ltd (“HB Training”).
Since 2003, CLW has gained a significant presence within the UK construction sector for the training and assessment of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). CLW’s focus has been to support experienced construction workers to achieve industry standard qualifications and compliance through the delivery of NVQs and the coordination of additional training support services.
The acquisition of HB Training enables CLW to extend its services by delivering Apprenticeships to both young people and adults who are entering the construction industry, as well as up-skilling adults who have been working in the industry for a number of years. This objective mirrors the Government’s strategy to support Apprenticeships and also meets Construction Skills’ objectives to substantially increase the number of new trainees who are needed to enter the industry over the coming years.
HB Training has been delivering high quality training to construction Apprentices since 1976 and now works with over 300 young people each year. . The company has 11 training centres situated throughout the Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside, the North West and Scotland.
“HB Training has a strong and knowledgeable team who are extremely committed to the business, many of whom have worked for the company for over 20 years. The success and reputation of the business are a great credit to all of the teams’ hard work,” said CLW’s Managing Director, Helen Smith. “The acquisition is expected to deliver significant benefits for our clients, our learners and the construction industry generally. HB will benefit from access to CLW’s strong employer base and successful business development team, and CLW now has the ability to extend into the Apprenticeship market with a tried, tested and successful model. Both the CLW and HB senior management teams are delighted that our two organisations will now be working together.”
Dave Hammond the retiring Managing Director of HB Training was the majority shareholder having led his team in a management buyout from Henry Boot in 2003. He said “I wanted to ensure that the company would continue to grow and prosper after my retirement and CLW are the perfect partner to ensure that the business goes from strength to strength in the future.”
“Despite the challenging economic climate we believe that there is tremendous potential for a strong, high quality Apprenticeship provider, offering well rounded Apprenticeships for young people and adults. We are confident that there will continue to be a strong demand from young people wishing to enter the construction industry, now and in the future,” said Helen.
